What is the Ontology Cult?

The Ontology Cult is a foundational core belief system forming a worldview and a theory of everything that is based on ontological reasoning. It is not a religious cult but people subscribing to its conclusions may be considered to be cult members.

If you truly believe that something can’t come from nothing, then you too are subject to becoming a cult member. I’m going to tell you the conclusions of my ontological reasoning first. These conclusions have all been reached based upon the fact that something can’t come from nothing. I’m doing this for those of you who may not wish to wade through the elaboration of the logical derivatives and the discussion following them.

But first some definitions:

Ontology means different things to different people but for the purpose of this webpage, ontology is in reference to the nature of reality in the sense that there is one defined reality, fixed, measurable, and observable. So then, I define it here as “as a branch of philosophy, the science of what is, of the kinds and structures, and nature, of objects.” In simple terms, ontology seeks the classification and explanation of entities.

By “nothing” I mean empty three-dimensional Euclidean space. This means nothing at all. No air, no particles of any kind, nothing that can bang into each other, nothing moving at any speed – get the picture?

By “something”, I mean anything that wasn’t there before and now is. It could be an object of any kind that occupies three-dimensional Euclidean space, or it also mean movement of something that was already there that wasn’t moving in the manner it is now. I could also mean it having some other property that it didn’t have before—such as a different shape or other quality.

When I use the word "universe", I may mean the totality of existence. This includes beyond the observable universe in distance and in other limitations of observation. It includes the three spatial dimensions, the dimension of time and any other proposed dimensions. This includes other "time universes" and all that's on the "other side" of black holes. Also included are energy, gods, spirits, souls, ghosts, empty space, and everything imaginable or real. I will elaborate on “the imaginable” later, but for now let’s include everything.

Warning:

If you believe that something CAN come from nothing, then there is not much value in you reading further. This is a pivotal point for you because your personal core belief system may be altered if you read any further. Your religious leader, if you have one, may not want you to read the contents of this website. The presentation of challenging ideas may upset you because they conflict with your current knowledge or foundational conception of the world. You may not be able to find answers to these ideas within your holy book. In fact, the ideas presented may be difficult to respond to for even seasoned Christian apologists.

So, if you are up to the challenge,

Here is a partial summary of conclusions that will be discussed in depth later:

1) Something that occupies Euclidean 3D space can not come from nothing.

2) Something that occupies Euclidean 3D space can not disappear to nothing.

3) The force that causes movement of something that occupies Euclidean 3D space also can not come from nothing.

4) This force or movement can not diminish in amount and must be conserved.

5) Therefore, whatever occupies space existed forever and in fact did not have a beginning.

6) The amount of force and/or movement of the said matter remains constant.

7) The volume of Euclidean 3D occupied space must be finite in amount and therefore so too the volume of space that is a mixture of occupied space and empty space — beyond which is only completely empty Euclidean 3D space.

8) Time is a manmade construct as the universe just is as it always has been—a limited amount of matter behaving with a limited amount of energy.

9) The pieces of completely occupied space that comprise existence do not change in shape and size, they can only pass energy to and from each other.

10) The conservation of motion of pieces of matter causes them to organize into more complex structures.

11) Also, due to the conservation of motion of pieces of matter these complex structures can be broken or changed.

12) There must be a limit to the velocity that a piece of matter can obtain.

13) The limit to velocity allows us to define time.

14) The finite amount of motion of particles allows us to define time.

15) There cannot be an all-creator God that brought the universe into existence.

What is the intention of this webpage?

The intention of this webpage is political. I am a woke, leftist, atheist, globalist and I want people to know the truth about the reality of the world. The world needs more people to know the truth about reality. If people new the truth they would examine their own foundational belief system that they most likely acquired in early childhood. And as a result, much of the conflict in today’s world would be averted.

The world has reached a level of population and interconnectivity that change is necessary to ensure a safe environment going forward. The change I’m referring to involves increasing global co-operation, sharing, and management. We need additional continental and oceanic layers of international oversee to ensure we don’t destroy our planet.

The likes of Greta Thunberg, Jane Fonda, and David Suzuki (to name a few), are my heroes. They have been acting to change the world for the betterment of all. However, it is what most people believe to be real that is in the way of meaningful change. Too many people believe what their ancestors believed. People need to alter what they believe to align with what is real. I’m hoping the dialogue I’m presenting here will help move us forward.

Evolving your personal core, or foundational, belief system to be more flexible will not only help the world going forward but will enrichen your own life as well.

Here’s the history of the idea that "something can't come from nothing":

The idea that "something can't come from nothing" has deep roots in ancient philosophy. One of the earliest philosophers associated with this principle is Parmenides (c. 515–450 BCE), a Greek thinker who argued that:
     1. existence is eternal and that,
     2. non-existence cannot give rise to existence.

Parmenides was born in the Mediterranean area about half a century before Jesus of Nazareth. He was the founder of the Eleatic school of philosophy. His main interests were ontology (the study of being), cosmology, and logic. He concludes in his major work On Nature that:
     1. Reality is one, unchanging, eternal, and indivisible.
     2. “What is” must be, and “what is not” cannot be—hence, nothing comes from nothing.

Then there was Aristotle, an Ancient Greek philosopher and polymath who lived from 384–322 BC. He was a student of Plato and later became the teacher of Alexander the Great. Aristotle's works covered a vast range of subjects, including logic, metaphysics, ethics, politics, biology, and physics.

Other early references come from the Milesian philosophers, such as Thales, Anaximander, and Anaximenes, who explored the origins of the cosmos and the nature of existence. Later, the Roman poet and philosopher Lucretius (c. 99–55 BCE) famously stated in De Rerum Natura that "nothing can be created out of nothing".

It is unfortunate that the Internet wasn’t available then because all the miserable Jesus-history could have been avoided—and now we are left with much unlearning including the outcome of Donald Trump and his Christian brigade.
